2Morrows June - Interview

HEY THERE!

So I had the opportunity to interview a great friend of mine (Marcos) who is the frontman of his very own band- 2morrows June! 2morrows June is a 5 piece Pop/Rock band from Richmond, California. They all meet during the teen years in highschool. The band consists of Marcos Molinar- 21 (Lead singer), Fernando Molinar-19 (Lead guitar), Vicente Padilla-20 (Bass), David Burton-17 (Drums) and JuanDiego Britto-19 (Piano/ keys/ synth). 2morrows June have opened up for big names like Robin Thicke, Faith Evens, Mindless Behavior and more. Now thats pretty impressive if you ask me...! They frequently headline in clubs in LA and in the Bay, they are also soon to record and release their first studio album. However the date is still TBC. 2J keep in contact with their fans worldwide on all social media platforms, keeping great friendships with them. Anyway, here's the questions that I asked Marcos...:

What's your favourite song off your EP 'Animals' ?

"My favorite song off the Animals EP is actually animals. It was the last song I wrote for the EP and the last songs I write tend to be my favorites".

Who inspired you to get into music?

"Personally it was a Spanish rock band called Mańa and the Jonas brothers really made us want to be a band. But that's me personally. Everyone has a different story".

What do you do out of the band?

"Out side of the band I do more music I love to collaborate with other artist like rappers and R&B producers and just make cool music".

What does the name of your band mean& how did you come up with it?

"The name 2morrows June has no real meaning but it came about because one day we were walking down the street from guitar center and Nando our guitarist was like "hey guys tomorrow's June" and me and Chente( our bass player) looked at each other and thought that's the perfect name for us. We then had an argument about wether we keep the tomorrow's or 2morrows June. I lost but I'm glad I did cuz I love the 2 now". Who came up with the idea of the band? "It was natural, no one really started it we all just came together after jamming together for so long and said lets just make this official and be a real band". What's your musical goals? "Longevity, arenas, stadiums and just having everyone around the world hear our music. Those are our goals we know it's going to be a lot of hard work but we are ready for it". If you weren't in music what would you be doing?

"If I wasn't in music I would probably focus my time on music business. If I wasn't an artist I think a manager or running my own label would be awesome".

How did you all meet? "Fernando the guitar player is my younger brother, Chente the bass player is my god brother ( I was actually in the hospital room when he was born). And Juandiego and David, our keys player and drummer Nando and I met in high school".

Do you have any upcoming gigs to watch out for?

"No big shows coming up soon but we are recording and keep up with all our social media pages to find out when we are doing radio interviews podcast interviews and or TV. We can't wait to start promoting all over and to talk to new fans!!!!"

Listening to the 'Animals' EP on SoundCloud, 2J (is it cool for me to call them that?) has some grooooovy songs! For example, 'Say Ayo' is a general pop song with a clear, genuine message BUT an extremley catchy melody! And thats the thing about 2J, the songs of there all have an upbeat tune which I always end up dancing around to! Although I can't dance...it's some kind of movement...lol. ANYWAY On the EP, I also like the cover of 'Rude' by Magic! This is beacause it flows with the dominate theme of upbeat-ness (is that even a word...?) and the theme of like summer and parties! It's always good, especially at this time of year! I would say, that if you're looking for some fresh new catchy pop music which is 'undercover', then I would highly recommend 2morrows June to you! And I'm not just blowing their trumpet beacause I'm really good friends with Marcos...they are genuinley a great band who make great music! I wish them all the best in their musical journey. I'm supporting you dudes all the way! And Marcos, you still need to tell me this super top secret thing that you're hiding from me!
